The 6th Annual Autumn Arts and Crafts Fair set to transform Moraga's Rheem Valley Shopping Center into an outdoor gallery

Moraga, CA September 17, 2004 -- The sidewalks of the Rheem Valley Shopping Center in Moraga will provide the stage for beautiful and creative artwork as the 6th annual Autumn Arts and Crafts Fair comes to town. The free event will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday, September 24 and 25, and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, September 26 at the shopping center, located at the corner of Moraga Road and Rheem Valley Boulevard.

The festival will provide an intimate setting for 40 multi-talented artists to share their original creations in paintings, ceramics, jewelry, sculpture, photography and more. Adding to the uniqueness of the event, patrons will have the opportunity to meet the artists and visit with some who will be practicing their craft on-site during the festival.

Among those artists is Lorna Ritter of Napa who will be displaying her whimsical collection of hand-painted garments and accessories for women. Among the items she'll be featuring will be dresses, vests, overalls, pillows, handbags and more. The process she uses to create her pieces begins by cutting natural cotton fabric and then drawing out an image by hand which she then paints using textile paints. Once completed, the image is heat set, outline stitched and assembled. "A lot of work goes into everything I do, which is what makes each piece so unique," she says.

Roy Woollard of Truckee will showcase his collection of intricate indoor and outdoor water fountains made of copper. His inventive fountains range in size and style from a six inch tree fountain to a heart-shaped fountain towering six feet high. Dedicated to making each piece unique, Roy adds several features to his works such as crystallized stone, wind chimes, or lucky bamboo to attract positive Chi energy into the home.

Christopher Lubeck of San Diego creates oil paintings in a contemporary style of expressionism that involves using a primary color palette. He will be displaying paintings of boats, palm trees, koi, landscapes and more. "My goal is to create images with life; to bring out the energy and vitality of the color. I want the audience to get emotionally involved with the art, to feel the wind in the trees, to immerse themselves into the serenity of the calm water," Christopher says.

Other artists in this year's festival include Neil and Vivian Blanck of Pleasant Hill displaying their jewelry, Leon Ruiz and Rosa Chavez of Dos Palos with their oil painting creations, Danilo Pacheco and Ralph Anderson of San Francisco displaying their semi-precious stone boxes and hand-painted glass decorative items and Amelia Chao and Paul Ogren with their photography.

The 6th annual Autumn Arts and Crafts Fair is sponsored in part by the Contra Costa Times. For more information, visit www.pacificfinearts.com or contact Pacific Fine Arts at (209) 296-1195.
